Gasmilla shares his joy & pain in “Kudi Sheege”

Gasmilla.
When you are coming up in life, some people will support you and others will discourage you.
That has been the storyline of so many talented acts in the music scene across Africa. Gasmilla has been on the two sides of the coin and thus, can tell the real picture of how it feels to be discouraged and supported.
Gasmilla’s new single titled “Kudi Sheege” which means “Crazy Money” in Hausa is a song in which he thanks the people who supported him and sends a message to those who left him when he needed them most to back off.
The King of Azonto who has had major commercial successes with his hit single Aboodatoi and recognition on major platforms such as the BBC and the world’s second biggest carnival at Notting Hill just to mention a few, seems to be tired of people spreading rumors that success has changed him or that he has deserted the people who helped him to get to where he is.
He also goes ahead to give props to his mum who was his rock until she passed away over a year ago. At the very end of the song he makes a pronouncement to motivate anyone and everyone who has dreams or aspirations. This song shows that Gasmilla can rap and isn't a one hit wonder boy.
Kudos also goes to Dampoo who brilliantly did the hook and Magnom who produced the beat. Together they’ve produced something truly sensational and inspirational that will motivate many others for years to come.

D-Black lashes at 4Stye TV Music Video Awards

D-Black at the Channel O MVA. Photo: Channel O
D-Black made it known to Ghana Music.com that 4Stye TV Music Video Awards is a shame to our industry.
D-Black revealed that he didn’t want to be part of the award from the start but members of the 4Stye Awards organization convinced me on their behalf and promised that it will be organized well.
“Someone or some people called 4Stye TV sit in their homes and create an award show. This is not a national award, this is a privatized award show”, he said.
Before continuing D-Black made mention that from henceforth, 4Syte TV should not nominate him or any of his works at their award shows because Ghana deserves a much better award system.
D-Black also said 4Stye TV failed to bring out the time frame under which a music video falls in for nomination. “My video VERA is 2 months old and you nominate it? Really? EL's Kaalu is 5 weeks old and you nominate it?
D-Black asked back to back questions as to where is the transparency in voting also? What is the voting system? What percentage does the public receive via voting and the panel also? Why are all these not drawn out for us to know? Why would you use YFM's short code for your voting text line? Are you serious?
“Look at the Ghana Music Awards. These are all clearly defined. The 4Syte MVA categories don’t even have descriptions”, he said.
D-Black accepted that he won the Best Collaboration Music Video of the Year with Mo’ Cheddah for 'Falling' but still stands by his words that Ghana deserves a much better music video award scheme.

Sarkodie asks President Mahama for better policies for musicians

Sarkodie Rapper, Sarkodie made a smart move during the National Youth Achievers Awards last Thursday when he combined the opportune moment of receiving an award and performing in front of the President of Ghana, to ask for better government policies that will guide the Ghanaian music industry and assure musicians of reaping the benefits of their craft.

Sarkodie received an award on the night for Achievement in Music and later came back on stage to perform with Sherifa Gunu. After his performance with Sherifa, the rapper grabbed the opportunity to deliver a message to President Mahama before moving on to perform other songs. He said that traveling around the world has opened his eyes wide on the policies that support his colleague musicians abroad. He therefore suggested that there should be policies that should protect the works of Ghanaian musicians so that musician will be able to generate revenues from their works over a period. He added that his children should be able to get 3 square meals from the songs he hits he has made so far. ”All these boil down to policies the government will put in place to support the Art”, he explained.

Lord Kenya marks two years of fervency in Christ

Scores of residents of Kumasi and beyond trooped to the Jubilee Park to join hands with Evangelist Lord Kenya in a three-day event to celebrate his two years of 'walking with Christ'.
It was nights of testimonies, music and prayers as stars and fans of the Ghanaian hip-life music icon fellowshipped and prayed for peaceful Election 2012.
“It's been marvelous and awesome, it just beats my imagination. My faith has been built for the past three days because the Lord has demonstrated that when He calls you, His grace abound”, an excited born-again Kenya exclaimed.
Lord Kenya, the multiple award winning 'rap heavyweight champion', was 'arrested' by the Holy Spirit two years ago as he sought supply of drugs at his usual 'wee' joint.
Today, he is engaged in evangelistic activities, sharing testimonies and the Gospel of Christ in churches and schools across the country, with the aim of drawing people closer to God.
“I have inner peace” said Evangelist Kenya. “In previous times, I'll go search for drugs to be happy and that was always temporal. Today, I am so glad at the ensuing peace in my family – the hearts of my wife, children and parents are at rest – and above all the peace of mind that when my life is done here on earth, a better place exists for me”.
He admonished the public not to mock celebrities who confess Christ, but “to pay and intercede for them because the Devil seeks to deceive majority to his side, hence we as Christians should also fight to win the battle”.
“Christ did not come for the righteous but for those who are sick and need healing. Jesus is the medication for those in poor health. We should have died, we should have been disgraced but He came to die for our salvation”, said Kenya.
Several artistes touched the crowd with their song ministration. These included Joe Bechem, Moses OK, Francis Asumadu, Slim Becky, Agnes Opoku Agyemang and Agape Incorporated.
Prophet Emmanuel Amoah, Apostle Emmanuel Offen and Bishop Bernard Owusu-Ansah also delivered sermons.
Holland-based Bishop Owusu-Ansah, who has committed to nurture Lord Kenya and other stars to spiritual maturity, described the response of acceptance from the Christian community has been encouraging.

According to him, it is inevitable for a lot of the stars to cross-over to Christendom and “we have to be loving towards them, we have to be understanding towards them”.

“There is nothing weird, strange or difficult about serving Christ”, he stated, noting that the principles of Christianity are guiding principles for life. “You'll have some difficulties but it is rather rewarding – not in terms of finance – but knowing that your life has meaning and your life has a better impact on others and you're doing something that pleases God as well” he said.
The Owusu-Ansah Bernard Ministries is a pillar behind the Stars Fellowship, an initiative of the New Lord Kenya Outreach Ministries to draw superstars closer to Christ.
“I know this is just the beginning because God has a purpose for taking us to all those places before bringing us under His Grace. This is a walk of faith and those with faith should join in”, Lord Kenya preached.
He has no immediate plan to establish a Church because “the Lord has not given any revelation yet for me to establish a Church. I'll wait on Him for guidance and direction”.

Mzbel demands apology from Hitz Fm

Hiplife Musician and Actress Nana Akua Amoah aka Mzbel is very grateful to God Almighty and everybody who supported her during her trial time in court through to the court judgment.
However, Mzbel is not entirely fulfilled as far as her court issue with the police and how the media handled it is concerned.
Mzbel has, for the first time after the final judgment, poured her heart out on what really happened and how thing got as far as they did. In an exclusive with Peacefmonline.com, the “Sixteen Years” singer said, all her woes were due to a reckless conversation she had with a particular journalist.
Mzbel said, after staying in Police cells for four days, she and two others who were accused of assaulting and obstructing a police officer from executing his duty, were finally granted bail.
She disclosed that even though she was advised not to do any media interviews until the court hearing was over, she went against all that and had a phone conversation with Doreen Avio of Hitz FM, which almost landed her in jail.
According Mzbel, Doreen called her as a friend “She called me as a friend to sympathize with me and even condemned the behavior of the police, saying she had a similar experience with the Police. Doreen even went ahead to share her sad experience with the police before she asked me what was going on with my case”.
Mzbel admitted that she shared her experience with Doreen and unknowingly gave her details of her court situation but before she realized, what she thought was a friendly off-record chat with a female friend, was being aired on Hitz FM, even though Doreen never told her she was recording her.
Mzbel told Peacefmonline.com that what made matters even worse was that, all this happened before her first court hearing and that voice played on air was used against her in court. She said this became a whole new issue in court and it also created problems between her and her lawyers. This, she said prolonged the court hearings and Mzbel believe it defiantly contributed to the judge’s final judgment.
She has not been able to forgive herself for making such an expensive mistake and she feels betrayed and deceived by Doreen’s behavior. She said she has confronted Doreen and the management of Hitz FM, but she has really not had any tangible response from them. “All I need from Hitz FM is a public apology on Hitz FM, the same platform on which my voice was played”.
Mzbel feels the media have not been fair to her even though she has no problem with any media person. She said even though she is very free and open to everybody, the media always report on stories about her without contacting her.
Mzbel Mzbel feels the slightest move she makes spreads like wild fire, and the press has succeeded in creating a wrong impression about her, not just in Ghana but internationally because unfortunately most of the hyped news are geared in the negative direction, adding that there is a positive side of her which the media have ignored or refused to see.
“Where was the press when I was honoured with the “Portrait of Excellence” award for my contribution to women freedom in Ghana”, she asked.
She emphasized that apart from this, she has won several awards internationally, sold a lot of records worldwide, done several charity works, but the media only see Mzbel when she has a problem with people.
She said contrary to people’s perception that she enjoys negative publicity, she doesn’t. “I don’t enjoy negative publicity at all. Sometime I cry when I read some stories about me and feel so let down. I don’t have any problem if they want to report negative stories about me but my only problem, is they should contact me for my side of the story”, Mzbel stressed.
The Motor Court in Accra on Tuesday April 10, 2012, convicted Mzbel and two others for traffic-related offences. Mzbel, known in private life as Nana Akua Amoah, Maxwell Mensah a businessman, and Emmanuel Edem Lordzoh, a student, were consequently fined a total of GH¢1,600 or in default face various terms in prison.
It will be recalled that the three were arrested in June 2011 and put before court for assaulting and obstructing a police officer from executing his duties. They had pleaded not guilty to the offences but changed their pleas when they appeared before the court in Accra on Tuesday.

Appietis explains Vodafone Ghana Music Awards mistake on stage

Appietus presenting the award to Kwaw Kese.

One of the most talk about moments of the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was when Appietus made an error by mentioning Kwaw Kese as a winner to the Highlife Artiste of the Year category which got the whole auditorium sparked up after Appeitus said 'Charter House Charter House'.
Even though the show is over, some people still find Appietus excuse as a weak and that as a professional and creative person he could have handled it better on stage.
Earlier on today, Appietus spoke to Peace FM's Entertainment Review host, Akwasi Aboagye and said that he couldnt hear the monitors around him. And he knew Charter House who has been doing Ghana Music Awards for thirteen years now were doing the right thing so he was ready to announce the winner right after the nominees video was done playing.
“People also forgot I came back to say sorry on the stage. If it was insulting, Charter House wouldnt have called me back to give the award again”.
Appietus ended by saying that Charter House were not sabotaging him because he had problems with them in the past but he came back maturely on stage again to give out the award to Kwaw Kese for Hiplife/Hiphop Artiste of the Year.
